The Canadian Ski Instructors’ Alliance (CSIA) was founded in 1938 and incorporated in 1949. It is the professional ski teaching body in Canada with its Head Office located in Montreal, Quebec. The CSIA ensures a nationwide ski teaching standard while promoting and teaching the importance of ski safety. It is committed to the development of innovative and effective skiing techniques and teaching methods. Our mandate is to promote professionalism and the profession of ski teaching.

CSIA offers four levels of instructor certification. YES Improvements offer levels 1 and 2 certifications:

Description

Prerequisites

CSIA Level 1

An entry level program designed to introduce prospective ski instructors to the basic teaching and skiing skills used at the beginner, novice and intermediate (parallel) levels of skiing.

15 years of age on the first day of the course
*** Able to demonstrate comfortable and safe skiing skills on intermediate terrain.

CSIA Level 2

This course introduces the skill concept and progression for the development of parallel skiers.

CSIA Level 1 Instructor certification

Able to ski advanced terrain.

***The Canadian Ski Coaches Federation (CSCF), with its partners, educates coaches to lead and develop excellence in ski racing. The CSCF was incorporated in 1976.
***CSCF Level 1 The Entry Level program is an introduction to entry level coaching for children ages 12 and under. Focus is on the "FUN-damentals" stage of development in the alpine long term athlete development model. Prerequisite: 15 years of age
