I am feeling very Olympic today, how about you?

The Winter Olympics are coming

With the opening ceremony on February 12th the Winter Olympics are almost upon us. There is no doubt that this is going to be a unique season as this once in a lifetime Olympic experience gets ready to hit Whistler.

Whistler is fully booked for the Olympics and so is our European Tour in January. So if you like the idea of getting into the Olympic spirit just before the games then our Niseko program may just be what you're looking for.

Come join us in Niseko, Japan for one week or two between January 31st and February 14th.

Get ready for the games, join us in Niseko

Located on Japan's north island of Hokkaido, Niseko is renowned for its impressive amounts of fluffy, dry powder. Equipped with an efficient lift system, mostly gondolas and covered chairlifts so even on the most extreme blizzard days, you can ride in comfort. Bad weather does not mean bad visibility in Niseko, as the resort has an abundance of tree runs and being low in altitude it rarely experiences true whiteout conditions.

A YES course in Niseko is the ultimate way for any skier to improve their off-piste powder riding technique! There are some great beginner powder bowls as well as ample terrain for the experienced skier - not to mention those famous tree runs!

The sheer amount of fresh powder experienced in Niseko means you are virtually guaranteed out-of-this-world conditions in this out-of-the-ordinary ski resort!

No Jet Lag! - If you're an Aussie or a Kiwi :)

Japan is only two hours behind Australia's East Coast summer time and is only a 10 hour flight away. You usually leave home one day and after a good night's sleep you're skiing or boarding the next day!

If you're travelling from the UK it's a little further but well worth the trip.

And there's more - Night Skiing

One of the best kept secrets about Japan is the night skiing. Niseko has reputedly the largest lit area in Japan. The locals don't venture out much at night but this is the best time to go riding. The mountain takes on a whole different look and its an amazing experience to snowboard in the moonlight. Almost the entire mountain is lit up at night and even out of bounds the lights penetrate through the trees.

Lifts are open until 9pm every night of the week in Niseko. It's a powder hound's dream.

And Finally...

To get the authentic Japanese introduction to Niseko we have a new instructor on the YES team. His name is Kawaski and he's a long time Whistler local but incase you didn't guess by the name he's also Japanese. So to get that perfect blend of Canadian ski/snowboard instruction and Japanese culture come and join the YES team in Niseko this February.

Pre-holiday training, Jamaican style

It's always good to get in shape before your ski holiday so with an Olympic theme here's a pre-season training suggestion for those of you in warmer climes.

If you didn't get the reference to 'Cool Runnings' in our title then check out this Disney film, it's great. And keep your eyes posted for the Jamaican bob sled team at this olympics, they're back!
